Gauhati Medical College and Hospital is the largest super speciality hospital of the North East.

The Department of General Medicine caters to all general and various unique health needs of the patients. It deals with the prevention, diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of various diseases and serves as the first point of contact whenever a patient visits the hospital.

The department is supported by the latest diagnostic facilities that include Microbiology, Pathology and Diagnostic Radiology.
