Service Achievements for the Year of 2023-24

  • 1. The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at GMCH has successfully facilitated 14 pregnancies through in vitro fertilization (IVF). Of these, two have already delivered, with the first IVF baby being delivered on March 27, 2024
  • 2. A total of 18 renal transplants were performed in the Urology department, GMCH, between September 2023 and August 2024. The department's dedication is evident by the successful completion of the first cadaveric transplant on December 13, 2023, followed by another on June 8, 2024. Furthermore, 4 numbers of ABO incompatible renal transplants were performed during this period, showcasing the department's advanced capabilities
  • 3. Gauhati Medical College & Hospital is the first Medical College in the entire North East region to get the recognition in the form of NABL Accredition of laboratories
  • 4. Maternity OT of Guwahati Medical College was granted Quality Certification under LaQshya program for a period of one year w.e.f. September 20, 2023
  • 5. Till date, the Department of Haematology at GMCH has successfully performed a total of 31 bone marrow transplants
  • 6. A total of 1135 Cardiac interventions were performed by the centre in 2023, the highest in Assam for the second consecutive time and was recognized by CSI/NIC.
  • 7. GMC got recognization of NMC Regional Centre for Medical Education Technology on 17th September, 2024

New Additions:

During the 2022-23 year GMCH has added significant infrastructure and teaching facility to the Medical College.

  • High Fidelity Simulation Skill Lab funded by USAID - RISE and Jhpiego Skill Centre for National Emergency Life Support (NELS) at GMCH.
  • Establishment of Multi Disciplinary Research Units (MRUs) at GMCH under Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Swash Bharat Yojana (PM-ASBY).
  • Inauguration of Tele-ICU Hub at GMCH under E-gov. Foundation.
  • Hostel – IV (Annexe) completed and presently occupied by the students.
  • Vishram Sadan (Guest House for patients).
  • Principals’ Quarter.
  • Nurses Quarter (8 Units) completed and occupied.
  • New Auditorium complex with 500 capacity completed with an aid from Oil India Limited.


 

Service Achievements for the Year of 2022

  • GMCH has Successfully carried out its 1st Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) on 30 August, 2022.
  • PET MRI machine Inaugrated and dedicated to the service of Nation at SCI.GMCH.
  • Inauguration of Cardiothoracic & Neurosciences Centre (CN Center) by Hon'ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah in presence of Hon'ble Chief Minister and Hon'ble Health Minister on 9 May 2022,
  • Construction of 500 Capacity New Auditorium completed in GMCH. Constructed at a total cost of Rs 6 Crores, Cut of Rs 3.9 crores was donated by OIL India Limited and and Rs.2.1 Crore from GMC fund.
  • Construction of Hostel – IV (Annexe) completed at a Cost of 11.06 crore.
  • Construction of Vishram Sadan (Guest House for patients ) completed at a cost of13.5 crores was donated by Powergrid Corporation.
  • Construction of Nurses Quarter ( 8 Units) completed at a cost of Rs. 3.32 Corers(State Govt. Fund).
  • Construction of Modular OT-Orthopaedics completed at a cost of Rs.4.35 Crores (State Govt. Fund).
  • Construction of Principal Quarter completed at a cost of Rs.2.03 Crores (state Govt. Fund).
  • Establishment of Multi Disciplinary Research Units (MRUs) at GMCH under Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Swash Bharat Yojana (PM-ASBY).
  • Establishment of Critical Care Skill Lab at GMCH funded by USAID RISE and Jhpiego.
  • Establishment of Skill Centre for National Emergency Life Support (NELS).
  • 42 bedded ICU was added at 3rd floor Emergency building GMCH.


 

Service Achievements for the Year of 2021

  • A) Infrastructure & equipments:

    • Superspeciality hospital of PMSSY-III was inaugurated and commissioned to patient service on 1 January, 2021.
    • 5 New well equipped ICU's with multipara monitors, ventilators etc. are established at Kalapahar hospital, 64 bedded ICU building, 200 bedded ICU (Parking), CTVS and Neurosurgery ward.
    • Hostel No.07 completed and commissioned for Under Graduate girls students.
    • All the UG and PG boys and girls Hostel were renovated.
    • Hostel 4 (Annexe) at the verge of completion, to be completed at November, 2021.
    • 3 Tesla MRI installed in the department of Radiology which is 1" in the State.
    • Dedicated parking area for Faculty has been started near Hostel Nota for general public in the field near Auditorium complex.
